Here are 11 sentences that are stopping you from achieving long-term results.

In George Orwell’s classic novel “1984” the totalitarian superstate controlled the population by manipulating speech and developing the fictional language “newspeak”.

The words we use really do shape our reality and George Orwell knew this all too well.

For some years now I have been trying in vain to learn Italian.

Unfortunately, my Italian is still somewhat basic but going through the regular toils of study has taught me some important lessons…

When you speak your native language you don’t really pay attention to what you’re saying, we throw limiting beliefs all over the shop without a moment’s thought…

But start from ground zero with a new language and you’re focused on every verb and noun every conjugation and preposition.

You realize that there are ways of describing things in your target that you just don’t have in your own language, you become hyper-aware of every word you use and what effect this might have on yourself and others.

Our reality is built by the language that we use.

But unless we become aware of the implications of what we are saying, how can we even begin to change it?

11 phrases that are stopping you from getting long-term results:

“I was naughty this week and cheated on my diet”

“I’m just not the type of person who keeps things up long term”

“ When I’m good I’m really good but when I’m bad I’m really bad”

“I’ve fallen off the wagon”

“If I have a plan and I’ve got someone spoon-feeding me and keeping me accountable I’m all good”

“I did really well at weight watchers because the guilt I would feel if my weight went up would force me to “do more” for next week”

“I’ve just got to grit my teeth and bear it for the next 6 weeks then I can enjoy myself”

“It’s my genetics that are the problem, all my family are out of shape”

“When I’m motivated everything goes really well”

“Diet starts Monday”

“I’ll be happy when I achieve __”

Within my Planted10 Programme, I don’t just hand out meal plans and workouts offering “support via a closed facebook group”.

I pay attention to the words my clients use so I can help them to change the perceptions of themselves to enable them to step into who they truly want to become.
